How It All Started
Novacaine was founded in 2019 by our Managing Director, Scott O'Shea, born out of his growing frustration with the prevalence of clickbait headlines and misinformation in mainstream media—particularly surrounding artists. Determined to create a space rooted in honesty and integrity, Scott launched a platform where every article is carefully researched and fact-checked before publication.
In December of that same year, Scott was invited to interview Edge of Paradise during their Camden, London show, where they were supporting Sonata Arctica. This experience offered him a behind-the-scenes look into the world of live music and opened doors to key industry contacts working with underground and independent artists.
Since then, Novacaine has remained committed to championing rising talent from around the world. Through partnerships with PR agencies, record labels, and artist management teams—as well as keeping communication open with independent artists at all stages of their careers—Novacaine continues to be a platform built on passion, trust, and support for emerging voices in music.
In August 2024, Scott officially registered Novacaine as a limited company and launched Novacaine Festival in October of the same year—an independent music festival dedicated to showcasing and uplifting new talent from across the globe. The festival aims to connect artists with industry professionals and build a thriving network that helps nurture and advance their careers.

Our Vision
We aim to establish Novacaine as the UK’s leading New Music Discovery Platform—a trusted space where both artists and fans can connect, grow, and be inspired. Our mission is to build a reliable industry network and vibrant fan community hub that artists, music professionals, and fans alike can turn to for honest coverage, meaningful connections, and the discovery of tomorrow’s talent.
Our vision for Novacaine Festival is to become a powerful springboard for rising artists—an essential stepping stone toward larger stages like Download Festival, Slam Dunk, and beyond. We want our event to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent within the independent music scene and show the world what these artists are truly capable of. More than just a festival, Novacaine is here to help turn dreams into reality.
