🎸 A Festival Built Around Discovery
Novacaine Festival isn’t about booking the biggest names possible. It’s about giving people the opportunity to discover their next favourite band, while providing artists with a platform and live event they can rely on to help push their careers further.
At the heart of Novacaine Festival is our desire to build a strong, inclusive community that works together. We want our audience to feel like they are part of the festival, rather than simply attending it. That means creating opportunities for our community to have a genuine say in how Novacaine develops, from helping shape future line-ups and deciding which market stalls appear at the event, to eventually hosting community-led events of their own.
These are ambitions we’re continuing to work towards, but we believe that giving our community a voice is an important part of building something that genuinely belongs to the people who support it.
We also want Novacaine Festival to be a platform that artists can utilise beyond simply performing on stage. Our aim is to help artists attract new fans, build connections and create opportunities that can continue long after the festival has finished.
Every year, we work to bring representatives from across the music industry to Novacaine, including record labels, media outlets, PR companies and other industry professionals, giving them the opportunity to discover, meet and connect with the artists performing at the festival.
Ultimately, we want Novacaine Festival to be a place where fans discover their next favourite artist, artists discover their next opportunity, and everyone plays a part in building the future of the festival.
📍 Based in Sheffield
Novacaine Festival is held at Corporation, Sheffield, one of the key venues at the heart of the city’s alternative music scene. For more than 25 years, Corporation has played an important role in supporting alternative, rock and metal music, providing a stage for countless artists throughout their careers.
The venue has also been part of the early journeys of artists such as Bring Me The Horizon and Architects, who have since gone on to become titans of the alternative scene, performing in arenas and headlining festivals around the world.
For us, that history matters.
Corporation is a venue that nurtures talent rather than simply exploiting it, and that philosophy is one of the reasons we chose to build Novacaine Festival there. We strongly believe in creating opportunities for artists at the beginning of their journeys, helping them develop their audiences and giving them a stage where they can be seen by people who may not have discovered them otherwise.
We want to help create the UK’s headliners of the future, and give you the opportunity to see them while they’re still on the way there.
And it isn't just the venue that makes Sheffield the right home for Novacaine.
We consider Sheffield and Yorkshire as a whole to be one of the beating hearts of the UK’s alternative music scene. The region has produced some of the biggest and most influential artists in British music, from Def Leppard and Arctic Monkeys to While She Sleeps and Asking Alexandria, while continuing to be home to countless emerging artists who are yet to receive the recognition they deserve.
That gives Sheffield a unique position within the UK’s music landscape. There is a deep musical history here, but there is also an incredible amount of new talent waiting to be discovered.
And that's where Novacaine comes in.
While we are proud to champion artists from Sheffield and across Yorkshire, Novacaine Festival isn't limited by geography. We want to give artists from across the UK, and eventually further afield, the opportunity to bring their music to Sheffield, discover new audiences and become part of a community built around the future of alternative music.
Sheffield has helped create some of the biggest names in alternative music. We want Novacaine to help create the next generation.
🧪 Where did Novacaine come from?
Novacaine LTD began life as Rock Lifestyle UK, an online music magazine created with one simple goal: to cut through the clickbait and spam that had increasingly come to dominate online music media and, unfortunately, still does in some corners of the internet.
What started as an online music magazine would eventually evolve into what is now Novacaine. But the journey towards creating a festival wasn't something we had planned from the beginning. In fact, it happened almost entirely by accident.
Our original idea was simply to create a platform covering music news, releases and the artists we loved. Then, in 2018, the same year as our initial launch, we were approached by Edge of Paradise, who were promoting their then-new album and asked if we'd be interested in interviewing them.
Fast forward to December 2018, and we recorded and released our first in-person interview with the band. It also happened to be my first time attending a small gig in Camden, and I was completely blown away.
It was during that experience that something clicked.
There had to be so many more bands out there waiting to be discovered.
For some reason, that thought hadn't really crossed my mind before. Like many people, I'd largely relied on music being introduced to me by friends and family, without necessarily thinking about the enormous number of artists working tirelessly behind the scenes to reach the point where their music becomes something that everyone knows.
That experience became a pivotal moment for us.
We began dedicating the platform to promoting new music and rising artists, helping to introduce them to audiences who may otherwise never have discovered them. And eventually, another idea started to take shape: what if we could take that sense of discovery from behind a screen and put it on a live stage?
The idea was to create an event where emerging artists could showcase what they could do, attract new fans and have the opportunity to perform alongside an established artist who had already experienced a similar journey themselves.
That idea stayed in the back of my mind for several years.
Then, in 2024, I listened to ‘Dragged Out’ by The Five Hundred.
Something about that song made me finally stop thinking about the idea and actually do something about it. I reached out to the band to ask whether they would be interested in headlining a small independent festival built around the idea of new music discovery.
Thankfully, they said yes.
That was probably the best question I've ever asked.
The Five Hundred didn't just agree to headline our debut festival. They gave us their time, their advice and their support as we worked towards making something we'd never attempted before a reality.
Without them taking a chance on what we were trying to build, Novacaine Festival may never have happened.
In 2025, Novacaine Festival opened its doors for the very first time.
What began as an online music magazine had grown into a live event built around the same principle that had inspired us years earlier:
There are incredible artists out there waiting to be discovered.
And we want to help you find them.
👀 What can you expect at Novacaine Festival?
At Novacaine Festival, you can expect to discover some of the best live performances from artists you’ve probably never heard of before.
You might arrive with a playlist full of familiar names, but leave with an entirely new list of bands you can't stop listening to.
Our line-ups span a range of genres across the alternative spectrum, meaning you could find yourself watching an artist from a genre you wouldn't normally listen to, and discovering that you absolutely love it.
But Novacaine isn't just about the music.
You'll experience an intimate venue surrounded by like-minded people who are there for the same reason: to discover something new, let go of the outside world and have an incredible time.
There are no huge festival fields or a sea of barriers separating you from the artists. Instead, you're right there in the room, watching rising artists perform in an environment where you can truly experience them.
And that's what we love about Novacaine.
You never quite know who you're going to discover.
You might come for one band and leave talking about another. You might watch an artist you've never heard of and find yourself following their career for years afterwards.
That's the Novacaine experience.
🚀 More Than a Festival
We want Novacaine to be more than a festival.
Our aim is to create a community-led platform dedicated to supporting, promoting, showcasing and nurturing rising artists from around the world.
We've already started putting some of those building blocks in place.
Later this year we aim to launch our community discord platform so you can help us put together Novacaine Festival 2027 for the very first time.
Our Festival Companion is a key part of this. We use it to showcase both the artists performing at Novacaine Festival and artists who we believe have the potential to be booked in the future. Through articles covering new music releases and emerging artists, we hope to introduce them to our audience, help them connect with new fans and potentially put them on the radar of industry professionals.
We also put together playlists to continue that discovery beyond our website. While the Novacaine Festival playlist is a natural way to showcase the artists performing at the event, we've also created our New Music Discovery playlist, featuring artists we've covered through the Festival Companion.
The idea is simple: if we discover an artist we think you should hear, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to hear them.
Our industry and press relationships are another important part of what we're building. We invite industry professionals and media outlets to attend Novacaine Festival, giving them the opportunity to discover the artists performing on our stages. We also work to connect artists with people within our network where we believe there could be a genuine opportunity to further their exposure or career, whether that's through media coverage, PR, management, record labels or other industry opportunities.
But in 2026, we took another step forward.
📞 Novacaine Booking Agent
In 2026, we launched our Novacaine Booking Agent service.
At the moment, we're deliberately keeping this small and are working with one artist while we develop and test the service. Our aim is to eventually provide rising artists with an affordable way of accessing booking support without the pressure and time commitment that comes with trying to secure every show themselves.
As their representative, we can approach festivals, promoters and venues on their behalf, apply for opportunities and use our existing industry contacts to identify other potential shows and opportunities.
We want to take away some of the time, stress and uncertainty that comes with booking shows, allowing artists to focus on what they do best, making music and performing it.
But there's another important part of our approach.
We don't want artists to feel like they're expected to stay with us forever.
Our goal is to help artists get going.
If an artist eventually reaches a point where they would benefit from moving to a larger booking agency, management company or record label that can offer them more extensive services and opportunities, we'll consider that a success.
We charge a small fee because we want the service to remain accessible to the artists we're trying to support. We're not trying to build a roster of artists for the sake of having one, we're trying to help artists progress.
Novacaine is still growing, and we're learning as we go. But every new part of what we build comes back to the same principle:
Support the artist. Build the audience. Create the opportunity. Help them take the next step.
And if we can play even a small part in helping an artist move from being someone you've never heard of to someone standing on a major festival stage, then that's exactly what Novacaine is here to do.
🌱 Why Emerging Artists?
We don't believe an artist needs thousands of followers to deserve a festival stage.
Our aim is to create a platform where artists have the opportunity to be heard and, most importantly, to have their hard work recognised.
Whether you've been making music for a week, a year or ten years doesn't matter to us. We're interested in what you're creating, the work you're putting into it and the potential we can see in you.
If we hear something we believe deserves to be heard by a bigger audience, we want to help make that happen.
There are already countless festivals and events taking place across the UK that showcase some of the world's biggest artists. Those events have an important place within the music industry, but we believe there is also a need for something different:
An event dedicated to the artists who are still on their way there.
Because today's emerging artists are tomorrow's big festival headliners.
The bands playing early slots today could be headlining arenas in five years. The artists performing to a few hundred people today could eventually be standing in front of tens of thousands. But before any of that can happen, someone has to give them the opportunity to be seen.
That's what we want Novacaine Festival to do.
We want you to be able to come to Novacaine, watch a band you've never heard of and think:
“I was here before they blew up.”
And that's the experience we want to create again and again.
You shouldn't need to be famous to deserve a stage. You just need to be worth listening to.
🔮 Where Is Novacaine Going?
As Novacaine grows, our goal isn't simply to become the biggest festival we can be.
We want to become one of the most trusted places in the UK for discovering the next generation of alternative music.
We're not trying to compete for the already-established headliners. You won't find us trying to replicate the line-ups of the world's biggest festivals by booking artists like Bring Me The Horizon or Limp Bizkit.
We're interested in the artists before they get there.
The bands who are currently playing smaller venues. The artists who are building their audiences one show at a time. The names that might not mean anything to you today, but could be headlining a stage at Download Festival, Slam Dunk or 2000 Trees a few years from now.
That's where we want to be.
We want to discover those artists, give them a platform, introduce them to new audiences and put them in front of the people who can help take their careers to the next level.
And when one of those artists eventually goes on to headline a major festival, we want you to be able to say:
“I saw them at Novacaine.”
Because ultimately, Novacaine Festival isn't about looking at where an artist is today.
It's about seeing where they could go tomorrow.
And we want you, the audience, to be there at the beginning of that journey with us.
