Newcastle’s rising alt-rock trio CANE ROUGE deliver raw emotion, explosive energy, and bold evolution on their sophomore EP, Lights Out, dropping Friday 10th October. The EP’s title track, Lights Out, released on 4th August 2025.
Formed in 2023, CANE ROUGE bring together the formidable talents of Ant Clarke (vocals/guitar), Dale McGee (drums), and Joe Harrison-Brown (bass). Fusing 90s grunge grit, punk urgency, and a touch of indie edge, the band have quickly carved a name for themselves through high-octane live shows and an unapologetically raw sound.
Since their live debut in April 2023, CANE ROUGE have been turning heads across the North of England. Known for their intense stage presence and emotional delivery, they’ve earned praise in local tastemaker mags like NARC. and DIRGE, while receiving consistent airplay on SparkFM, Nova Radio, FutureHits, and BishopFM—a testament to their growing buzz in the UK alternative scene.
Their debut EP, Embers, released independently in Summer 2024, captured their explosive beginnings and resonated with fans, racking up nearly 25,000 Spotify streams. Now, the band are preparing to take things further with their second EP, Lights Out—a bold, emotionally charged evolution of their sound. Recorded with producer Mark Folland at The Studio in Hartlepool, the record dives deeper into raw, personal territory.
“These songs belong entirely on their own in the world of Cane Rouge,” says frontman Ant Clarke. “They’re emotionally deep and raw—I wanted to go somewhere lyrically I hadn’t been before.”
The release of their lead single Lights Out, paired with a gripping new music video, will offer fans the first taste of what’s to come—and it’s CANE ROUGE at their most powerful yet. With gritty honesty, undeniable chemistry, and fearless creativity, CANE ROUGE are proving they’re a force with something real to say.
