Root Zero are set to release their highly anticipated new album "Dark Rainbow" on May 16th, 2025 as well as releasing a new single, "Ignis Fatuus" on May 9th, 2025 ahead of the album's release.
We've got it here early!

Fast rising Welsh riff slingers ROOT ZERO reveal their massively engrossing debut album, Dark Rainbow, on Friday 16th May 2025. The popular progressive metallers will also unleash their powerful new single and video, Ignis Fatuus, on Friday 9th May 2025.
Dispatching an array of influences that stem from Soundgarden and Deftones, through to Cult of Luna and Katatonia, ROOT ZERO are a unique and irresistible proposition. The fascinating six-piece draw in from the world of gothic and progressive metal to deliver twisting and atmospheric slabs of sophisticated metal that are fastidiously constructed with precise detail and earnest passion.
Initially formed as a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Giacomo Fiderio, ROOT ZERO extended their sound and grew over the years, and by 2022, a full band line up was constructed featuring Sasha Bannister (lead vocals), Giacomo Fiderio (keyboards/co-lead vocals), Llyr Williams (guitar), Wren Wood (guitar), Rob Edwards (bass), and Joshua Powell-Gibbs (drums). ROOT ZERO ploughed forward and locked down in the studio to release their debut EP, The Weight of What I Started, in 2023.
Live performances soon took shape, and the sextet quickly picked up a stellar reputation for producing stunning live shows. This is demonstrated by the band unanimously winning last year’s South Wales’s Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses competition. ROOT ZERO also went on to perform at Bloodstock Festival and wooed audiences with a formidable and hugely powerful set.
With their name already well known, ROOT ZERO are set to charge onwards, and have just finished work on their explosive debut album, Dark Rainbow. The release is fused with absorbing cuts of intense metal combined with authority, groove, atmospherics and craft. With many live performances on the way, and further singles in the pipeline, the coming months and beyond will be extremely busy for ROOT ZERO.
Novacaine Rating: 10/10
"ROOT ZERO have firmly planted themselves as a force to be reckoned with, and upcoming album Dark Rainbow is all the proof you need. This is a band poised for a breakout year.
Imagine Evanescence and Deftones teaming up for a sonic offspring—Dark Rainbow delivers just that. Ethereal, angelic vocals collide with raw, gritty intensity, all backed by thunderous riffs that hit like a tidal wave. The result? A soundscape that’s both hauntingly beautiful and unapologetically heavy.
It’s the kind of album you’d stumble across on Scuzz TV back in the golden days—when discovering the next big act felt like striking gold. ROOT ZERO isn't just a band to watch—they’re a band you won’t be able to ignore." - Scott O'Shea
